  • Why did you join TFO Phoenix?

TFO Phoenix has an amazing team of professionals with a deep reservoir of knowledge, and the opportunity to work and learn from them was too much to pass up.

  • Why should families connect wealth and purpose?

A purpose can help a family set clear objectives with a goal of making better decisions regarding their wealth.

  • Education and accreditations

CPA – Arizona
Master of Taxation – Arizona State University
Bachelor of Science, Accountancy – Arizona State University
Bachelor of Science, Economics – Arizona State University

  • What do you like to do outside of work? What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend?

I like to hike, camp, boat and spend as much time outdoors as I can. My favorite way to spend a weekend is to go rockhounding (hiking and searching for rare and pretty rocks) and Arizona is blessed with lots of rare and pretty rocks.

  • What are the most important lessons you’ve learned in life?

Be true to yourself and to others, don’t be afraid to ask for help, always maintain a healthy work/life balance and adjust as needed

  • What are some of your biggest influences?

My parents were my biggest influence; they taught me to be independent and to continuously reevaluate my priorities, because those priorities will change over time. The Air Force also had a large influence on me; they showed me the value of teamwork and the value of operating with a purpose. I had a professor in college who would come to work every day wearing Crocs, and he was the only professor I saw who did that; his ongoing act of non-conformity reminded me of the importance of being true to yourself and to others.

  • What path led you to wealth management?

I first became interested in wealth management when I became involved in tax preparation and planning and for an investment partnership client at my prior firm. I also worked with several tax professionals at my prior firm who ended up at TFO Phoenix, and when one of those professionals reached out to me about an opportunity, I took it.

  • What most excites you about your work?

Finding solutions to intractable problems.

  • What has been your most rewarding career experience?

I had a tax client who had to close his medical practice in early 2020 due to the pandemic. He also owned and managed a handful of rental properties at the time, and he wanted to use this as an opportunity to change career paths and devote his time to managing and expanding his real estate holdings. I worked with him throughout his transition, and he now runs his real estate enterprise full-time.
